To My Colleagues in Norsk Anestesiologisk Forening:

Hello, I am John Hiser, MEd, RRT, FAARC, Chair of the AARC International Committee of the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC). I want to tell you and your members about the AARC/ARCF International Fellowship Program.

This Fellowship Program brings accomplished respiratory clinicians from around the world to the United States for study and related professional experience. Since 1990, 131 health professionals from 55 countries have shared experiences, knowledge, and developed lasting friendships through this exceptional program. The program is sponsored by the American Association for Respiratory Care, a 63 year-old medical society, and the American Respiratory Care Foundation (ARCF).

The three-week program begins with participants arriving on November 20 and departing December 10. During this time the participant visits two host cities and concludes with attendance and acknowledgement at the AARC’s International Respiratory Congress in Las Vegas.

This people-to-people approach to international healthcare has created lasting ties between U.S. respiratory therapists and their professional counterparts in other countries. And, it has strengthened the global exchange of knowledge and experience essential to quality patient health care. As Dr. Vikram Sarbhai, 2003 Fellow from New Delhi, India stated:

“I am personally convinced that this effort shall someday change the Respiratory Care scenario worldwide … serving a point of nucleus for world vision. It will bring forth more job opportunities and serve as a huge step forward in the betterment of health sciences in general.”

All of the Fellows selected for 2010 will meet their counterparts from across the United States and have an opportunity to begin discussions and relationships that continue long after their return to their home country.

Please help us make your members aware of this fellowship. With your help, we can share knowledge about respiratory care and help patients in both our countries.

Sincerely,

John Hiser, MEd, RRT, FAARC
Chair AARC International Committee

P.S. The deadline is June 10, 2010. The application is available online at http://www.arcfoundation.org/international/fellows/app.cfm.
